Less government

In his opinion article titled “Even with all that winning, Democrats didin’t run the table” did Jerry Cornfield really say, “In 105 days, Democrats carried out the most enthusiastic expansion of state government in a decade, if not longer, that touches the entire cycle of life, and beyond”?

I don’t know about other people, but I don’t want more “expansion of state government” as it is too big and bloated already. And, I certainly don’t want government “touching the entire cycle of life and beyond.”

I want government to operate efficiently (pipe dream?) and stay out of my life as much as possible.

Cornfield seems convinced that government is the answer to almost everything, and he actually seems disappointed they didn’t do more to try and control our lives.

My thoughts, and I hope the thoughts of many others would be that “enthusiastic expansion” is just about the last thing most people want to hear about state government.

Democracy doomed

We are losing our free press, which cannot happen in a viable democracy. It’s similar to when our elected representatives refuse to hold town meetings and face their constituents, but it’s much worse at the federal level when the White House refuses to let journalists ask some tough questions and expect truthful answers on a daily basis.

This cannot continue to happen.

I have not been a fan of impeachment, but without a free press to hold the current administration accountable, I fear our democracy is doomed.
