To keep in pace with the region’s fast-changing economic conditions, Overlake Medical Center & Clinics prepares for sweeping pay increases for most of its employees, in addition to expanded benefits for all 3,340 team members.
The initiative is designed to reward and retain staff members, while encouraging early-career healthcare workers, and providing staff with more wellness and family support.
“This initiative shows Overlake values our employees, who are the backbone of our organization, and is again a market leader in employee compensation,” said J. Michael Marsh, President and CEO of Overlake. “The raises recognize our team members’ extraordinary commitment to our mission to provide compassionate care during a time when so much has been expected of them.”
Under the initiative, over 80% of Overlake’s workforce–including registered nurses (RNs) and all other hourly employees–will receive a pay boost. RNs will receive a $5 per hour increase starting on January 2, 2023. This increase will be coupled with a 4% pay hike on May 8, 2023.
RNs will be provided with these raises 15 months before their next scheduled contract renewal in May of 2024. While increasing compensation for all nurses, there will be a special impact on newer nurses for whom January hourly raises represent larger percentages of their pay, according to Overlake.
Patient care technicians at Overlake will receive a 12.5% wage increase on December 5, 2022. The pay for medical assistants will rise by $4 per hour on December 5. Wages for all other hourly employees will increase by another 5% on January 2, 2023.
Employee benefits will be expanded and enhanced, according to Overlake, with a focus on providing greater assistance regarding wellness and family. Overlake employees will have greater access to no-cost, culturally appropriate mental health services. Overlake will also offer program care coordinators who can assist employees with locating and managing childcare or elder care.
“The benefit enhancements promote wellness and make it easier to balance work and home life,” said Marsh. “Throughout Overlake’s six decades, we have been renowned for our high quality and our exceptional workplace is central to it.”
