Eastlake hangs on

Eastlake jumped out to a fast start and held on for a 4-2 victory over Roosevelt Saturday afternoon. Ryan Vernon pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on six hits, to earn his second win of the year. Nick Smith was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Michael Russo was 2-for-3 with one RBI for the Wolves.

Skyline earns win

Adrian Sampson pitched a one-hit shutout Monday, helping Skyline defeat Liberty 1-0 on the road. The sophomore struck out six, improving his record to 3-0. Phil Tushar scored the Spartans’ only run in the top of the sixth inning.

Issaquah splits pair

Issaquah split a pair of games earlier this week, downing Bellevue 3-1 on Monday and losing 2-1 to Mount Si Tuesday. Senior Jacob Kemmerer pitched a complete game Monday, allowing just one earned run along with six strikeouts.

The Eagles were no-hit in Tuesday’s loss. Mount Si’s Frank Tassara went a complete game, striking out 12.

Eagles pitch to wins

Issaquah won two more games, and had two more shutouts in the last week defeating Mercer Island 18-0 on March 27 and Sammamish 6-0 on Tuesday. Issaquah’s Lauren Naismith and Mikenzie Voves combined for a one-hit shutout in the win over Mercer Island and combined for a no-hitter over Sammamish.

Spartans take one

Skyline split a pair of games in the last week, losing 1-0 to Liberty on March 27 and beating Newport 3-1 on Tuesday. The Spartans received two hits apiece from Lindsey Nicholson, Elaina Shawver and Ashley Smiley in Tuesday’s win. Lauren Wolfe had two RBI.

Eastlake wins meet

The Eastlake boys won their first league meet of the season March 27, earning 73 points to finish ahead of Ballard (60) and Woodinville (43).

Devin Bennett won the long jump (18-8) and triple jump (37-4 1/2) and Jeff Sloat won the 110 (17.9) and 300 hurdles (43.1).

The Eastlake girls finished second with 73.5 points. Woodinville (85) won the meet with while Ballard took third (27).

The Wolves were led by Lan Voba’s victories in the long jump (14-5 3/4), triple jump (33-9 1/2) and 100 hurdles (17.0).

Eagles race to victory

The Issaquah boys and girls won their second straight meet, downing Interlake March 27.

The boys took 13 events en route to a 96-48 win. Three athletes earned multiple victories, including Matt Hjelm, high jump (5 feet, 2 inches) and the 110 hurdles (18.6 seconds); Kyle Hansen, long jump (19-4 1/4) and triple jump (39-8 3/4); and Jack Duffy, 100 (11.3) and 200 (23.2).

The girls dominated, winning 111-39 over the Saints. The Eagles claimed 10 individual events and three relays. Emee Mathew won the shot put (36-10 1/4) and discus (92-1); Elaine Tran won the 100 hurdles (16.8) and 300 hurdles (49.0) and Bonnie Young won the triple jump (31-0) and 400 (60.1).
