The Spartans scored all five of their runs in the fifth inning. Ryan Somers and Phil Tushar provided key RBI hits in a fifth-inning rally. Somers was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Tushar was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Skyline improved to 6-1 in league and 8-1 overall with the win. The Spartans were scheduled to face Mount Si yesterday. Results occurred after Reporter deadline.

Issaquah lets one get away

Issaquah led late, but couldn’t hold on against Newport, April 2, losing 9-8.

The Eagles held an 8-4 advantage headed to the bottom of the seventh, but the Knights sent nine batters to the plate to come back and snag the victory. Jake Franklin drove in the winning run off of Eagle reliever Austin O’Neil. Issaquah was led by Spencer Rogers, who was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Mario Sanelli was 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Issaquah fell to 3-4 in league and 4-4 with the loss. The Eagles’ game scheduled Monday with Mercer Island was postponed due to rain. They were scheduled to face Sammamish yesterday and Mount Rainier at 4 p.m., today, April 11 on the road.

Eastlake earns redemption

Eastlake, which lost its first game of the season to Inglemoor, earned redemption Monday afternoon.

The Wolves defeated the Vikings 11-3, improving their record to 5-6 in league and overall.

Eastlake fell behind 3-0 in the first inning, but rallied for 11 unanswered runs. Brennan Menninger shut down Inglemoor after the first inning, going a complete five innings for the win. The game was shortened due to rain. Nick Smith was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in the second inning. Kelly Rockey hit a three-run home run in the third and Nick Andrews was 2-for-4 the three RBI. Eastlake played Bothell last night and travels to Ballard at 3:45 p.m., today, April 11.

Issaquah remains undefeated

Issaquah kept its record flawless defeating Bellevue 15-0 on April 3, before downing Newport 2-1 on Tuesday.

The Eagles, who have outscored opponents 57-3 this season, continue to dominate in the pitching circle. Mikenzie Voves picked up the last two victories, including a complete-game win over Newport. She allowed just four hits and had 10 strikeouts in the win. Kelly Richards and Kim Sekijima were each 2-for-3 in Tuesday’s win. Issaquah is now 8-0 in league and overall, and in sole possession of first place in the KingCo 3A — three games ahead of Newport and Liberty. The Eagles played at Mount Si yesterday and travel to Skyline Wednesday, April 16.

Skyline boys, girls win

The Skyline girls ran away with a dual meet against Bellevue April 3, outscoring the Wolverines 95-55.

The Spartans won 11 individual events and all three relays.

Kiara Williams won the 100 hurdles (16.91) and 100 (13.29); Barbara Holladay won the high jump (5-0) and 300 hurdles (48.63) and Alicia Connors won the 1,600 (5:25.12) and 800 (2:31.81).

The Skyline boys edged Bellevue 74-71, winning 11 events. Kasen Williams took first in the high jump (6-2) and triple jump (39-9); Jordan Kaatz won the 100 (11.51) and 400 (51.99); Travis Lund won the 1,600 (4:43.07) and 3,200 (10:13.69) and Andrew Gray won the 110 hurdles (15.69) and 300 hurdles (42.79).

Issaquah dominates Sammamish

The Issaquah girls won 16 of 17 events to beat Sammamish 130-20 on April 3.

The Eagles were led by three multiple winners, including Emee Matthew in the shot put (34-7) and discus (97-11); Elaine Tran in the 100 hurdles (16.4) and 300 hurdles (48.1) and Johanna Carr in the 100 (12.4) and 200 (26.6).

The boys beat Sammamish 96-46, winning nine events. Kyle Hansen led the way, winning the triple jump (40-4 1/4) and long jump (20-11 1/2).
