Lynn Dale Hover passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2021 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington at the age of 65.
Lynn was born minutes before his twin brother Glen (or maybe it was after; they were never quite sure) on April 3rd, 1956, to Donald Roland and Ann Mathilda Hover in Seattle, Washington, joining his older sister Diane, and older brother Donald Jr. (Bud), later joined by their younger brother Jeff. He graduated from Issaquah High School in 1974, after which he received a scholarship to play football first at Walla Walla Community College and then the University of Wyoming, where he and his brother Glen were a part of the 1976 Fiesta Bowl Team. Despite losing to the Oklahoma Sooners 41-7, Lynn was always proud of the fact that he “played very well that day”.
After a short stint in the NFL, Lynn met the love of his life, Mila Maura, while on a business trip to Upstate New York. Most likely struck by the beauty and spunk of the dark-haired Italian girl he would eventually marry; few would argue the fact that her tending bar at the time also played a role in his attraction. Lynn was able to convince Mila to marry him in September 1983, after which they moved to Issaquah, Washington and raised a family of 4 children. In 2019, after the birth of their first grandchild, Lynn and Mila relocated to Columbus, Montana, where Lynn was able to spend time with his grandchildren and enjoy time in the Rocky Mountains hunting and fishing.
Lynn was a devoted friend, father, grandfather, and husband, who’s simple joys in life included spending time with family and friends, playing softball, hunting and fishing, and staring off into space with an IPA in his hand. Known for his physical size and strength, it was his kind nature and integrity that many liked and respected about him, and what will be missed the most.
Lynn is survived by his lovely, lovely wife, Mila Hover; his sons Jake (Amy) and Travis Hover; his daughters Kara and Shanae Hover; his brothers, Don (Tonya), Glen (Beth), and Jeff (Kelly) Hover, his sister Diane (Gary) Hover; and his two grandchildren, Jack and Austin Hover. His loss will be felt by many more.
A celebration of Lynn’s life, officiated by Pastor Gary Curry, will be held at 11 AM on June 4, 2022 at Vasa Park in Issaquah, WA. All are welcome, and his family would like to encourage anyone willing to share any thoughts and stories you may have; the funnier the better. A few of Lynn’s favorite beers will be served along with lunch following the service. Please share this post with anyone who may have known him.
