Kay Leneve Odell Ellsworth was born in Seattle on July 23, 1934. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1952 and Western Washington College in 1956. Kay married fellow educator Ward Ellsworth in 1954. She retired from teaching to raise her children and made their home a place where love was spoken and shown daily. Kay also taught children’s Bible classes and led many private and group Bible studies for ladies.
After their children were grown, Kay and Ward operated the WEE Academy in their home for 18 years, blessing scores of children and their families. In 1998, the Ellsworths retired and moved to Issaquah from Mt. Vernon to be near their daughter Kelly Givens and her family.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Skagit Valley Church of Christ, 215 S. Gardner Road, Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kay’s memory to Hospice of the Northwest, 227 Freeway Drive, Suite A, Mt. Vernon, WA 98273.
