The Issaquah Eagles baseball program has proven itself to be the class of the 4A KingCo division during the first half of the 2018 season.

Issaquah is currently in first place with an overall record of 8-1, including a 5-1 record in KingCo 4A action. Issaquah senior right-handed pitcher Torin Crockett, who pitched a complete game allowing just one earned run in a 3-1 victory against the Mount Si Wildcats on March 28, has come through in the clutch during his four appearances on the hill thus far. The victory against the rival Wildcats at Bannerwood was a memorable experience for Crockett.

“It is always fun playing Mount Si. They are a really competitive team and always give us a great game. Playing under the lights at Bannerwood is really special. It felt good to get that win,” Crockett said.

Crockett is thrilled to see his squad thriving in his senior season.

“It is a great experience. There is a lot of competition in KingCo (league) this year and I think that just makes our team a lot better. We push each other to strive for greatness and so far it has been working out really well. We want to win state (title). The goal is the same every year,” Crockett explained.

Recently the Issaquah Reporter had an opportunity to ask Crockett a few questions about his life away from the baseball diamond.

Issaquah Reporter: What is your favorite restaurant in Issaquah?

Torin Crockett: It is probably The Ram. I really like burgers and they have some good ones there.

IR: What is your biggest pet peeve?

TC: When people are lazy.

IR: What is your dream vacation spot?

TC: Hawaii. It is a pretty nice place. It has nice weather and a lot of sun, which is something we don’t necessarily get a lot of here.

IR: What is something unique about you that nobody would know?

TC: I can play three instruments. I can play piano, guitar and alto-saxophone. I did piano lessons in third grade, I did alto saxaphone in middle school and took beginning guitar here at IHS (Issaquah High School) my freshman year.

IR: What is your favorite hobby away from baseball?

TC: I like mountain biking. I think it is pretty fun. It’s an adrenaline rush.

IR: Who was your idol growing up?

TC: Felix Hernandez (Seattle Mariners pitcher). He is a pitcher and I really enjoy baseball.

IR: What kind of music are you listening to the most in your car right now?

TC: I like good singing. It is a good mix of a little bit of rap and pop.
