Skyline girls earn
second in LW invite
The Skyline girls finished in second place out of 74 teams Saturday at the Lake Washington Invitational earning 45 points. Gig Harbor won the meet with 70, while West Valley of Yakima was third with 44.5.
Shealee O’Donnell earned second place in the 100 (12.15) and 200 (25.60). Amber Dodd finished fourth in the 300 hurdles (47.45), McKensie Gelber took third in the javelin (118-01) and Britlyn Garrett took fourth in the javelin (117-10). The 400 relay team of Kaylyn Berry, Danielle Matthews, Kiara Williams and O’Donnell finished third overall in a time of 49.03.
The Skyline boys won a three-team league meet April 24, earning 79 points to finish ahead of Newport (78) and Sammamish (20).
The Spartans won nine events, led by Kasen William’s victories in the long jump (19-2) and triple jump (41-9). Other individual winners included: Ryan St. Laurent, shot put (48-8 1/2); A.J. Francis, javelin (154-9); Taylor Mitchell, 110 hurdles (17.1); Dustin Bratten, 100 (11.6); Travis Lund, 800 (2:07.49) and Tyler Torres, 1,600 (4:45.76).
The Skyline girls finished second with 60 points. Newport won the meet with 94 points, while Sammamish came in third with 16.
Skyline hosted a three-team meet with fellow Issaquah School District foes Issaquah and Liberty yesterday afternoon. The 3A/4A league meet begins May 7 at Liberty High School.
Issaquah boys
edged by Liberty
The Liberty boys track and field team defeated Issaquah 82-63 April 24.
Ryan Tiernan led the Eagles, winning the 110 hurdles (16.0) and 300 hurdles (41.0). Other Issaquah winners included: Matt Davis, pole vault (10-6); Kevin Lemond, 800 (2:05.9) and Chris Brasino, 3,200 (10:03.4). The 400 meter relay team of Alex Pearl, Kyle Hansen, Jack Duffy and Tiernan won with a time of 44.1.
The Eagle girls placed fifth at the Lake Washington Invitational on Saturday. Issaquah’s 1,600 relay of Bonnie Young, Kim Varney, Haida Ikeda and Kaley Allison took first overall in a time of 4:03.50. Young also took third in the 800 in a time of 2:16.35.
Eastlake falls to Inglemoor
The Eastlake boys and girls suffered losses April 24, falling to Inglemoor in a dual meet.
The boys earned 55 points, finishing behind Inglemoor’s 81. Eastlake winners included: Steve Wallinger, high jump (5-10); Jeff Sloat, 300 hurdles, (41.93); Dan Sloat, 200 (23.40); Michael Blodnick, 800 (1:59.48) and Beau Wales, 1,600 (4:56.06). The 1,600 relay also won.
The Eastlake girls earned 56 points, finishing behind Inglemoor’s 79. The Wolves were led by Lan VoBa’s wins in the 100 hurdles (16.89) and 300 hurdles (52.24). Other Eastlake winners included: Elizabeth Kirsten, shot put (31-5 1/2); Olivia Boyd, high jump (4-10 1/2) and Chelsea Orr, 800 (2:19.07).
Golf
Skyline wraps up regular season
Skyline ended its regular season April 24, losing by 24 strokes (242-268) to Mercer Island at the Plateau Club.
The Spartans were led by Emily Baldwin, who finished in a tie for third with a 50. Anna Williams finished fifth, shooting 51.
Mercer Island’s Kirby Thornton took medalist honors with a 42. The KingCo 3A tournament begins May 5 at Snohomish Golf Course.
Eastlake
downs Garfield
Eastlake earned a dominating league victory over Garfield April 24, beating the Bulldogs 219-323 at Jefferson Park Golf Course.
The Wolves claimed the top five spots on the par 36 course led by Alex Taylor (40), Stephanie Schoof (43), Hannah Ostic (44), Emmie Schwartz (44), Desiree Unger (44) and Dana Mydland (46).

league victories
Issaquah defeated Liberty 5-2 on Tuesday and Interlake 7-2 on April 24. On Tuesday, the Eagles were led by singles wins from Aviel Hagen, Alyssa Wilson, Selena Lustig and Morgan Gierke. Emma Haberloch and Florie Kim earned a doubles victory. In the win over Interlake, Wilson, Lustig, Kim, Mika Asaba, Alyssa Wilson, Selena Lustig and Lyndsay Thomas earned wins. Asaba and Wilson also picked up a doubles victory along with Megan Burns and Nana Kida.
Spartans split pair of matches
Skyline lost a close match with Bellevue, 5-4 on Tuesday, and defeated Liberty 7-2 on April 24. On Tuesday, the Spartans were led by singles wins from Meg Reinhardsen, Sarah Dulin and Molly Knutson. Kristin Klein and Dulin earned a doubles win. In the Liberty win, the Spartans were led by the singles victories of Klein, Dulin, Knutson, Millie Reinhardsen and Meg Reinhardsen. Millie Reinhardsen and Meg Reinhardsen also earned a doubles victory, along with Kelly Boudwin and Kristin Park.
LACROSSE
Issaquah suffers first loss of season
The Issaquah boys lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season Friday, falling 11-6 to Bainbridge Island. The Eagles were led by Travis Wright’s three goals. Nick Yaap, Jake Director and Alex Bates all added goals for Issaquah. The loss broke a 17-game win streak. Issaquah bounced back on Tuesday with a 19-4 win over Lakeside. Wright scored six goals, while Todd Jones and Jordan Goldstein had three apiece.
